This is my favorite place to eat Ramen.
Period.
I always get the mini spicy ramen, with two eggs. The fact that they offer the mini portion is fantastic because obviously, sometimes you don't want the big bowl.
Their version of spicy ramen rocks. As a half Thai guy, I'm not afraid of hot, but I'm also not looking to challenge how hot I can eat. The spice to this is just right for me. If you aren't good at eating spicy, I would recommend the normal ramen, it is still good to go. The Ramens are all packed with tremendous flavor and honestly, I could eat this every day. One huge winner for me is the egg....which is why I get two.
Another plus to this place is the ramen comes out quick, so despite the fact they give you a pager to call you when your order is ready...don't run off to far. -

"First look" is what their name translates to in English. I was pretty much done with trying the ramen vendors inside of Shirokiya, but a spur of the moment gaze of their Yelp page with positive reviews and delicious-looking pics sold me.
ATMOSPHERE:
They're in the middle aisle, mid way back and left of the beer bar of Shirokiya. The takeout counter has three windows - ordering, pick up and dish return. Seating is communal.
MENU:
Ramen in broths of tonkotsu, spicy, and pesto.
FOOD:
Original Ramen with Egg - $13.30
I'm not a huge tonkotsu broth fan but still liked this version's creaminess and richness as it wasn't too heavy. A dollop of dark red spiced oil was dropped in, giving the broth a nice shot of salt and a tinge of spice. The toppings of cloud ear mushrooms, thinly sliced pork and gooey egg were good too. The biggest letdown were the thin, chewy noodles that for me, belong in Chinese noodle dishes, not ramen. I prefer thicker, eggy noodles.
SERVICE:
Counter service was a bit robotic yet no one was programmed to acknowledge you or say "thank you". After ordering, the pager went off in about five super quick minutes for our two bowls.
OVERALL:
I love exploring new places but it does have its disadvantages once in a while. -

BROTH IS IMMACULATE. Their noodles are thin and firm - similar to Ichiran noodles which I love!!!
The original ramen and spicy ramen were both sooo delicious. I appreciate how they have a mini version of the ramens too. I order the mini spicy because I can only finish a kid-size meal.
The pork cha siu is sooo soft and tender and sumptuous. -

Wow! A really place for quick and convient ramen. I got the mini original with extra noodles and an egg. The broth was rich, creamy, and flavorful. The egg was perfect! Soft boiled with a hint of shoyu. The noodles were also perfect, thin with a slight cheesiness.
The mini ramen with extra noodles is just enough for a light lunch or dinner. I think next time though I might get the regular sized ramen. That's how good it was. I was kind of sad when I finishes my noodles lol.
Ramen Gashoken was a little tricky for me to find, because there's so many ramen places in Shirokiya. But it's located right across from the Beer Garden in the middle of Shirokiya. -

I haven't been to the Village Walk in a long time just because it just seemed more chaotic and less of a great feeling then the when it was originally a small handful of stalls in the the actual Shirokiya store.
But I came here based on Emi's review and I am glad I followed her advice. I ordered the mini original ramen as I was not completely hungry and wanted to test the broth, in case I was not a fan. Turns out I do love this broth and the next time I come to the Village Walk, this is my new place to order ramen from. (And it doesn't hurt that next stall over I can pick up some gyoza).
